birds hopscotch on water

skim the stream

tree to bush

catbirds hopscotch and fish the Taconic
the fifth ant after midnight crawls on me
crawls
I can’t sleep
crawls
strip my sheets

I wander the grounds, wrapped in sheets,
looking for another place to sleep
