Crepe Myrtle

Open blossom clusters

bend holding cups of rain,

sun and wind dries them.

Petals fade and fall,

crumpled pink lace,

warm snow on grass.

Green marble buds

wrapped tight on a stalk

soften to pink,

a summer chorus

sings a flower story.
